Life With Elias!

Elias Park

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a week since we came home!  Wow.  We are so thankful to be on this end as we begin this journey as a family…

Life at the hospital was tough, but we definitely sensed the Lord’s presence in getting us through, especially with such a lack of sleep (being awakened every 2 hrs. or less was probably the biggest challenge to functioning!)  We so appreciated the nurses monitoring Elias and availability to assist us 24/7 in case we had a question, concern, or just wanted to eat a meal!  We were so fortunate to only be there 9 days as we know many are there beyond 100.  Our heart goes out to them (prayers too).

Now we are home, and it is a whole new world of adjusting and learning to live life with a 3rd child, our first son, a child who requires little extra care 🙂  We are so happy to be re-united with our girls as CRAZY and constant as the home life can be!  {Mom’s of multiples… any tips are appreciated in keeping stress levels at bay!}

Elias is doing great all things considered!  We are so happy he is a thriving newborn, eating well and growing! (around 9.5 lbs.)  His healing wound still requires some extra care, and we also have a few other health things that may be related to his Spina Bifida.  We will have 2-3 Dr. appt.’s a week for a couple months, but we’re hopeful after that they will be less frequent.  God graciously provided Brandon with an extended work leave, and we do not take one day with him home for granted!

Our little Elias still has us on our knees more physically and metaphorically than anything we can remember!  This is part of the reason we chose his middle name, “James.”  It’s an amazing book in the Bible with lots of wisdom for practical living, and the author, James, is known by the nickname “Camel Knees” for wearing out his knees so much from praying to the Lord.

Although life is constantly a challenge and harder for us than we could expect, we wouldn’t change a thing.  Elias has only been a part of our world for a short time, but we  all love him so much and look forward to each day we have to get to know him more!

I also want to say thank you to all my patient friends and loved ones as I struggle doing much beyond the survival demands directly in front of me.  Partially, this may just be my personality!  But I hope and pray I can adapt to our new normal soon and actually begin communicating to the outside world beyond an occasional blog!!

Much love to those who pray for and support us in so many ways…
